Letter #1

It seems like there ought to be a place where we can sit down and just be human. For me at least, the beer community has been that place. It's been beside brew kettles and atop bar stools that I've gotten to know my community, to feel a part of this place, to feel "home" (although none of us really seem to be able to go back there).

Is it naive of me to believe that beer can bring peace to the world? Maybe. But if it isn't doing something good in the universe, then maybe it isn't doing enough.

It has been harder to go on talking about beer without talking about the rest of the world. And although there is so much I love about the community of beer of which I am a part, I think there are ways we can better put our passionate devotion to beer to use.

Will you join me in peaceful protest of the craziness, violence and inhumane actions that are happening all around the world? Can we brew a beer together? Or sip it all just a little slower and enjoy what we've created in a shared space? Can we minimize the loneliness and isolation that allows people to drown their sorrows alone as though we didn’t all go to bed with a little sorrow at night? Can we put on a virtual show of hands for all those in favor of a more peaceful planet? Is this shit getting too hippy-dippy for you yet?

I'm not wanting this to be a religious space, though having one doesn't prohibit you being here. No preaching. Just choir. Am I using the right words here? I hope so.

Let’s get creative, and see if we can make a beer without murdering anybody. I think that’s possible.

Cheers,
@Brew4Peace
